K‐FORCE training visit at UKiM ‐ April 11-21, 2018

A training visit at UKIM (P11), as part of the Special Mobility Strand (SMS) program of the KFORCE project, took place in the period 11-21 April 2018. The training mobility was organized within two institutions: Faculty of Civil Engineering and Institute for Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology. The aim of the training was to provide the trainees involved in the mobility with international experience on the education system and teaching methods for MSc education at UKIM.

The trainees and institutions involved in this mobility were:

  2. Erion Luga, EPOKA University, Faculty of architecture and engineering, Tirana
  3. Igor Dzolev, University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Technical Sciences, Novi Sad
  4. Matilda Shehu, University of Tirana, Economics Faculty
  5. Radovan Vukomanović, University of Banja Luka, Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy
  6. Saša Spaić, Higher Education Technical School of Professional Studies in Novi Sad

The training visit was opened by the welcome speech of the local coordinator of the K-FORCE project, professor Meri Cvetkovska and the Director of the Institute for Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology, prof. Vlatko Sesov, who, according to the Agenda, was the first lecturer.

The main activities of the training visit included 5 presentations given by professors from Faculty of Civil Engineering (prof. Meri Cvetkovska and assistant prof. Marijana Lazarevska) and from Institute for Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology (professors Mihail Garevski, Violeta Mircevska and Vlatko Sesov), a visit to the laboratory for dynamic testing of structures in IZIIS, visit to the geotechnical laboratory and laboratories for testing of structures at Faculty of Civil Engineering, one workshop on numerical analysis of fire exposed structures organized by assistant Cvetanka Chifliganec, as well as visit to the Protection and Rescue Directorate of Macedonia where the participants were welcomed by the Director Adnan Dzaferoski and they had opportunity to learn about the principles and the way of the organization of the protection and rescue system in Macedonia.

On Sunday, a trip to nearby hill Vodno was organized. The participants had chance to visit the “Macedonian ethno village” and get information about the traditional Macedonian architecture. A social dinner was organized in the evening of Wednesday 17.

The training visit was very positively evaluatedoth by the trainees and by the host professors, as indicated by the evaluation forms filled on the last day of activity. From the review of the evaluation forms it is possible to state that the content of the visit was deemed very relevant to the field of DRM&FSE and that the organization, training time, and venue were appropriate. The expectations of the trainees were met and the event fully succeeded in achieving the main goals of promoting training, internationalization, and cooperation among the participants.
